حسین کاشیان هنرمند شناخته‌شده رشته نقاشی و خوشنویسی که مدتی در بیمارستان بستری بود، دار فانی را وداع گفت.
کاشیان متولد ۲۶ مرداد ۱۳۲۱ و دارای درجه ممتاز خوشنویسی از انجمن خوشنویسان ایران بود. او در سال ۱۳۴۲ به مدرسه کمال‌الملک رفت و هنر مینیاتور را نزد استاد محمود فرشچیان آموخت.
این هنرمند، در سال‌های آغازین دهه ۶۰ به عنوان نخستین رئیس موزه هنر‌های معاصر تهران در مقطع پس از پیروزی انقلاب اسلامی مشغول به کار شد و پس از آن به عنوان کارشناس آثار هنری در اداره کل هنر‌های تجسمی وزارت فرهنگ و ارشاد اسلامی به فعالیت پرداخت.
کاشیان همچنین یکی از نخستین هنرمندان ایرانی بود که آثارش به حراج کریستیز راه یافت.
