قابلیت تشخیص سقوط اپل واچ نشان داده که می‌تواند جان افراد را نجات دهد و اخیراً نمونه جدیدی از این اتفاق گزارش شده است. این ویژگی ظاهراً جان زنی را نجات داده که پس از بروز یک مشکل خطرناک قلبی از هوش رفته و زندگی‌اش در معرض تهدید قرار گرفته بود.
کاربری با نام xanderpy در ساب‌ردیت r/Apple می‌گوید مادرش در یک سفر کاری خارج شهری بود که متوجه دردی در قفسه سینه خود شد. او در ادامه به دوستی که همراهش در همان هتل اقامت داشت، پیام داد و وضعیتش را اعلام کرد. سپس با صورت روی زمین افتاد.
چند دقیقه بعد، دوست این خانم بالای سر او حاضر شد و با اورژانس تماس گرفت، اما متوجه شد که آمبولانس از قبل به‌سمت آن‌ها حرکت کرده است. بعداً مشخص شد که اپل واچ به‌صورت خودکار با تشخیص سقوط، با مرکز فوریت‌ها تماس گرفته است.
تماس آنی اپل واچ با اورژانس جان این زن را نجات داد
درنهایت این خانم به بیمارستان منتقل و معلوم شد که دچار پارگی آئورت شده است. چند روز بعد، او توضیح داد که اپل واچ چگونه با اورژانس تماس گرفت و با این اقدام فوری شانس زنده ماندنش را بالاتر برد.
این کاربر ردیت می‌گوید قبلاً تصور می‌کرد که داستان‌هایی از این دست اغراق شده‌اند یا برای تبلیغ ساخته می‌شوند، اما حالا نظرش تغییر کرده است. xanderpy می‌نویسد: «این اتفاق من را تا ابد کاربر اپل کرد و نشان داد که فناوری‌هایی مثل این واقعاً می‌توانند جان انسان‌ها را نجات دهند.»
اپل واچ پیش‌تر هم بارها باعث نجات زندگی افراد مختلف شده بود. برای مثال در سال ۱۴۰۰ زنی که به ناگهان بیهوش شده بود، با کمک قابلیت تشخیص سقوط توانست بلافاصله از حضور نیروهای امداد بر سر صحنه بهره‌مند شود. این ساعت هوشمند همچنین از قابلیت تست نوار قلب بهره می‌برد که انتهای تابستان ۱۴۰۱ توانسته بود مشکل قلبی یک کاربر را به‌درستی تشخیص دهد. البته گفتنی است که این قابلیت ممکن است همیشه دقیق عمل نکند.
