مدیران اپل گفته اند کار تولید مجموعه با همکاری نزدیک خود فوتبالیست انجام شده و او بر تمام مراحل ساخت آن نظارت دارد. با آنکه هنوز نامی برای این مینی سریال انتخاب نشده، اما احتمال داده می‌شود با نام مختصر «مسی» به روی آنتن برود.
بخش مهمی از داستان مجموعه، مسی را در طول مسابقات جام جهانی ۲۰۲۲ قطر دنبال می‌کند. در این رابطه، دوربین فیلمسازان حتی وارد اتاق شخصی بازیکن هم می‌شود و لحظات تنهایی او را به نمایش می‌گذارد.
